About Rammellzee

Like many kids coming of age in New York of the 1970's, RAMMELLZEE began his art career by tagging the cars of the A-train subway line in his Queens neighborhood. He later became an integral part of the downtown '80s scene, deploying a philosophy he dubbed "Gothic Futurism" in deconstructing the English language, letting sculpture, music, and fashion.

Seen rapping in the movie Wild Style, the cult figure also known as HYTESTYR, EG (EVOLUTION GRILLER AND THE MASTER KILLER) SHARISSK BOO and RAZZ created masks and full-body suits of armor from found materials, leaving behind a widely varied and influential body of work in the wake of his death in 2010.
